A crisp, flavorful fruit

An unusual batch of wine made from an unusual fruit found on a local farm has been awarded top honors at the Dixie Classic Fair this year.
Winemaker Kenny Hamilton, who manages the Thistle Stop Wine Shop in Kernersville, entered a bottle of persimmon flavored wine for judging in the amateur division and his entry not only received a gold medal in the fruit wine category but also earned Best in Show.
