Early taverns

Of special interest to Mike Marshall, vice president of the Walkertown Area Historical Society, is Dobson’s Tavern, an 18th century tavern that once occupied the lot on the corner of North Main and East Mountain streets in downtown Kernersville. Marshall related how George Washington visited Dobson’s in 1791, when he was touring the southeastern United States. For more, see the Thursday, January 8, 2015 edition.
