Kernersville man charged

A Kernersville man has been arrested in connection to a road racing incident on November 22 that left two people dead and one injured in Forsyth County, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD).
Patrick Wayne Eaton, 19, has been charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of misdemeanor pre-arranged racing.
The FCSO said the suspect had allegedly been road racing another car last month on Union Cross Road and the second car went off the road and crashed, killing Drake Dalton Brown, 17, and Matthew Barry Jones, 20, both of Kernersville, who were both pronounced dead at the scene, according to Winston-Salem police.
A third passenger, Austin Gray Renegar, 18, of Kernersville, suffered minor injuries the WSPD reported.
The WSPD reported that Brown was driving a 1999 Ford Mustang with Jones and Renegar riding as passengers.
The suspect under arrest was racing that car in a 1996 Honda Accord, according to police. Police said both cars were going more than 100 mph.
The Mustang went off the road and collided with several cars at a home located at 1760 Union Cross Rd., the WSPD reported.
The WSPD reported that neither of the two victims were wearing seatbelts; however, Renegar was reportedly wearing a seatbelt.
The suspect has been placed under a $100,000 secured bond and has been issued a court date for later this month.
