Five candidates are seeking election as the Forsyth County Soil and Water Conservation District supervisor in this year’s November 4 general election. Creation of conservation districts dates back to the Dust Bowl era when leaders realized how important it was to conserve the country’s natural resources. Today, there are nearly 3,000 conservation districts that help local citizens conserve land, water, forests, wildlife and related natural resources.
