Sarah Friende Hamlin

The community has lost one of its greatest preservers of black history with the recent death of Sarah Friende Hamlin. It was Hamlin who first expressed interest and then garnered support for the restoration of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church graveyard on South Main Street in 1991.
