Police chase

Law enforcement agencies from throughout the area converged on Kernersville Thursday morning after two robbery suspects in High Point crashed their car on Interstate 40 near Hwy. 66 South and fled the scene on foot. The Kernersville Police Department (KPD) said the male suspects allegedly robbed a Dollar General in High Point. The two escaped by car and were pursued by officers with the High Point Police Department and the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office. After wrecking their vehicle, the suspects ran into nearby woods. The area was sealed off by law enforcement, and the KPD, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department, Kernersville Fire Rescue Department responded to assist. Multiple dog teams and a N.C. Highway Patrol helicopter also aided in the search. A number of Kernersville schools were placed on lockdown during the incident. Both suspects were arrested.
