Kernersville resident Marilynn Baker thought about running for a seat on the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, but after three fellow Democrats threw their names in the ring, she decided to set her sights on a N.C. House seat whose incumbent, Rep. Debra Conrad, looked as if she might make it to the November 8 election unopposed.
